Tagalys Trending and Best Sellers Recommendations are product recommendation widgets that can be embedded anywhere on your Shopify storefront to surface popular and rising products automatically. Your store generates performance data every day - what is selling, what is being viewed, what is being added to cart. These widgets make that data visible to shoppers at the right moment, on the right page, without any manual curation from your team.
A Best Sellers recommendations widget ranks products by total units sold over a defined period. It recommends products that have proven themselves through purchase volume. A Trending recommendations widget ranks products by a composite Trending Score calculated from views, add-to-carts, and purchases, weighted to surface momentum rather than accumulated volume. A new arrival generating strong engagement will appear in a Trending widget before it has built enough sales to appear in Best Sellers. Best Sellers recommends confidence. Trending recommends currency.
Use Best Sellers when you want to recommend products that build trust, particularly for new visitors who do not yet know your store and need social proof. Use Trending when you want to surface what is gaining momentum right now, during a new arrivals drop, a seasonal shift, or a sale event when rising products matter more than historical volume. Both can run simultaneously in different placements across your store.
The Tagalys Trending Score is a composite of product views, add-to-cart events, and purchases over a rolling time window you define. Tagalys weights these signals to surface products gaining engagement momentum, not just accumulating historical volume. A 7-day window makes the widget more reactive to recent shopper behaviour. A 30-day window surfaces what has been consistently gaining traction over the past month.
Yes. You can apply conditions to define exactly which products qualify. Common filters include limiting recommendations to a specific product type or category, excluding products on sale so only full price items are recommended, filtering by price range, and setting a minimum units sold threshold. Conditions can be combined. The widget only recommends products that match every condition you have set.
Placement depends on where a shopper needs guidance most. On the homepage, a Best Sellers or Trending Now strip gives new visitors somewhere to go immediately. On a collection page, a recommendations widget highlights what other shoppers in that category are buying or engaging with. On a PDP, it keeps shoppers exploring if the product they are viewing is not right for them. On the cart page, it surfaces last-chance discovery at the moment of highest purchase intent.
Yes. You can create multiple instances of the widget with different conditions for each placement. A Dresses collection page can recommend bestselling dresses. A footwear page can recommend trending shoes. Your homepage can recommend store-wide best sellers. Each widget is configured independently so every placement recommends what is most relevant to the shopper at that point in their journey.
Tagalys Smart Widgets automatically use fallback recommendations. If a product goes out of stock, it is replaced by the next qualifying product in the ranking. You do not need to monitor or manually update the widget when stock changes.
Yes. Once configured and placed, the widget recalculates rankings continuously from incoming performance data. The products shown shift as shopper behaviour changes, without any manual input. If you want to adjust the conditions, ranking signal, or time window, you make that change once in the Tagalys dashboard and it applies across every placement the widget has been deployed to.
