Tagalys Similar Products Recommendations is a product recommendation widget that shows alternatives on every PDP in your Shopify store, based on the attributes of the product a shopper is currently viewing. When a shopper lands on a product, Tagalys reads what that product is — its type, colour, silhouette, price range, fabric, etc., and recommends others that match those signals. It is built for fashion brands where a shopper who does not buy the product in front of them needs an immediate and relevant next step.
Tagalys Similar Products Recommendations matches alternatives based on attributes and tags in your Shopify catalogue, including colour, product type, price range, fabric, and category. It also weighs attributes based on how shoppers across your store actually engage with products. If price and silhouette are the dominant factors in how shoppers browse dresses on your store, those attributes carry more weight in the similarity calculation for dress recommendations. The result is a carousel that feels considered rather than generic.
Yes. When setting up the widget, you choose the conditions that determine what qualifies as similar. You can specify that recommendations must match the source product type, fall within a price range, share the same colour, or match any other catalogue attribute. Conditions can be combined. For example, you could recommend products that match both the product type and are priced within 20% of the source product.
Similar Products Recommendations matches alternatives based on catalogue attributes. The recommendations are objectively similar to what the shopper is viewing in terms of product data. Viewed Also Viewed Recommendations surfaces products that other shoppers have viewed in the same session as the source product, reflecting collective browsing behaviour rather than attribute similarity. On a fashion PDP, Similar Products Recommendations might recommend the same dress in a different colour. Viewed Also Viewed Recommendations might surface a completely different product type that shoppers tend to browse alongside that dress. Both serve different discovery purposes and work well placed together on the same PDP.
Yes. Tagalys Similar Products Recommendations updates as new products are added to your catalogue and as engagement patterns shift. If a recommended product goes out of stock, it is replaced automatically by the next most relevant alternative. No manual updating is needed when inventory changes.
Yes. Tagalys provides widget-level analytics so you can see views, clicks, and conversions driven by the Similar Products Recommendations carousel. This helps you identify which product pages are benefiting most from the recommendations and where the conditions might need adjusting to improve relevance.
