Boost products dynamically using conditions like colour, inventory, margin, category, or campaign relevance
DEMOTE
Push end of line and heavily discounted products down
Apply a negative boost to move low margin, heavily discounted, or size-limited products lower without removing them entirely
SCOPE
Control where boosts should apply
Apply boosts globally across your storefront or locally inside specific Collections easily
Influence product ranking without manual sorting
Your storefront ranking should adapt to campaigns, inventory, seasons, and business priorities, not just product performance alone.
Product Boost lets you dynamically promote or demote products using conditions like colour, discount percentage, stock status, tags, category, or margin. Instead of manually rearranging products, you influence Trending Score across collections, search, recommendations, and GSOs.
Products move naturally while your merchandising priorities still shape what shoppers see.

Common questions
Everything you need to know
Tagalys Product Boost lets you add a positive or negative score to the Trending Score of any product or group of products, influencing where they rank within your existing sort order. A positive score raises a product's ranking so it appears higher. A negative score lowers it. The Trending Score continues running underneath and Product Boost layers your commercial intent on top of it without replacing the automated intelligence. You define the conditions for which products qualify, and the boost applies automatically to every product that matches.
A Global Boost applies store-wide. It affects the Trending Score of matching products across every collection, search result, and recommendation widget on your store simultaneously. A Local Boost applies within one specific collection only. Everything outside that collection is completely unaffected. If you want to give full-price products more visibility across your entire store, use a Global Boost. If you want to push a specific product higher in your New In collection without affecting anything else, use a Local Boost.
You can set conditions based on any attribute in your Shopify catalogue — colour, product type, category, discount percentage, stock status, size availability, tags, price range, and more. You can also use performance-based conditions such as units sold or conversion rate. Conditions can be combined for more precision. For example, you could boost products that are both full-price and available in your top-selling sizes, or deprioritise products that are both heavily discounted and below a minimum stock threshold.
No. Product Boost works on top of the Trending Score. A positive boost adds to the T-Score so the product ranks higher within the sort order. A negative boost reduces the T-Score so the product ranks lower. The Trending Score continues recalculating every 24 hours based on real engagement data and the boost sits on top of that. New arrivals, performance shifts, and seasonal changes are all still factored in. You are influencing the ranking, not overriding it.
Yes. Boosts stack. If a product qualifies for multiple positive boosts — for size availability and for being full price — both scores are added together. If the same product also qualifies for a negative boost because it is heavily discounted, that value is subtracted. The cumulative effect of all active boosts determines how much a product's ranking shifts. A product that qualifies for multiple negative boosts simultaneously can drop significantly, even if its base engagement is strong.
Yes. Product Boost only influences the Trending Score. It has no effect when collections, search results, or recommendation widgets are sorted by New Arrivals, Best Selling, Price, or any other sort option. It is designed specifically to layer commercial intent on top of the automated Trending ranking.
Yes. You can set a start and end date for any boost. It activates automatically when the period begins and switches off when it ends, with no manual cleanup required. This is useful for campaign windows, seasonal drops, or sale events where you want specific products to have more or less visibility for a defined period and then return to their natural Trending Score position afterwards.
No. Product Boost influences relative ranking, not absolute position. A boosted product will rank above products with lower scores, but its exact position depends on the scores of every other product on the page. If you need a product in a guaranteed position, use Smart Pinning instead.
A negative boost subtracts a value from a product's Trending Score, pushing it lower within the sort order while keeping it visible on the page. Demotion is a separate mechanic that moves products to the bottom of a page or hides them entirely based on stock or availability conditions. Both affect where products appear, but a negative boost is a scoring decision — the product is still ranked, just lower. Demotion is a visibility decision — the product may not appear at all.
