Everything you need to know
A Smart Collection is a dynamic Shopify collection created and merchandised inside Tagalys. Merchants define which products belong using conditions based on catalogue information, Shopify tags, SKUs, Product IDs, inventory, pricing, discounts, and Tagalys engagement data. Products enter or leave the collection as they begin or stop matching those conditions, while the merchant controls how the qualifying products are sorted and presented.
Smart Collections turn a merchandising idea into a collection that can maintain itself as the catalogue changes. A merchant can define New Arrivals by publish date, Best Sellers by recent performance, Sale by discount percentage, or Clearance by combining inventory, sales, and product age. The collection remains aligned with those rules without requiring the team to rebuild its product set manually.
Smart Collections can use product catalogue data and Tagalys analytics. Supported examples include product type, Shopify tags, price, discount amount, discount percentage, inventory, publish date, SKU, Product ID, product views, add-to-carts, units sold, and revenue. Conditions can be used to include or exclude products, allowing merchants to define collections around both product characteristics and recent shopper behaviour.
Yes. Once the collection conditions are set, products continue to be included or excluded according to the latest data available to Tagalys. A newly published product can enter New Arrivals, a discounted product can enter Sale, and a product can leave when it no longer matches. Updates are transferred to Shopify, with timing subject to Shopify’s platform processing and the store’s theme and caching setup.
Yes. Dynamic membership controls which products qualify for the collection, not the complete storefront presentation. Merchants can sort the qualifying products using fields, Global Sort Options, or Sequences. They can also pin selected products, remove products where supported, and apply other Tagalys collection-merchandising controls. This keeps collection upkeep automated while preserving editorial control over the shopper experience.
Yes. A Smart Collection can be defined using SKUs or Product IDs when the merchant already has a specific product set in mind. Those products can then be sorted dynamically rather than held in one static order. This is useful for a campaign, edit, or curated range that must contain an exact group of products while still responding to the selected merchandising logic.
