Tagalys Popular Searches automatically displays the most searched terms across your Shopify store over the last 30 days in the search suggestions panel. They appear when a shopper opens the search bar before typing anything, giving every visitor a view of what other shoppers are actively looking for. The list updates on its own based on rolling search volume data, so it always reflects current demand without any manual input from your team.
Tagalys analyses unique search queries across your store over a trailing 30-day window and ranks them by volume. Only terms that return search results on the current day are included. A term that was popular last month but no longer matches any products in your catalogue will not continue appearing. This keeps the list accurate and shoppable rather than showing terms that lead to empty results.
No. Popular Searches is fully automatic. Tagalys generates and updates the list from your store's own search data. There is nothing to configure, no terms to enter, and no list to maintain. The only decision you might make is how many Pinned Searches to place above it, since the total number of terms shown across both is capped at ten.
The search suggestions panel shows a maximum of ten terms across Pinned and Popular Searches combined. If no terms are pinned, up to ten Popular Searches appear. If you have pinned three terms, up to seven Popular Searches appear below them. The balance shifts depending on how many terms you choose to pin.
Tagalys updates Popular Searches on a rolling 30-day window, which means the list shifts continuously as new search behaviour comes in and older data falls out. You do not need to trigger updates or refresh anything. During periods of rapid demand change, like a sale event or a new arrival drop, the list reflects those shifts as the data accumulates.
Yes. The terms appearing in Popular Searches are a direct signal of what your shoppers are actively looking for right now. If a term is rising, it is worth considering whether to pin it for more visibility, create a Merchandised Search for it so the results are curated, or ensure the relevant collection page is well merchandised. Popular Searches is as much a data signal as it is a front-end feature.
Popular Searches are generated automatically from real shopper behaviour on your store. They tell you and your shoppers what is genuinely trending. Pinned Searches are set manually and reflect editorial decisions — terms you want shoppers to discover regardless of current search volume. Popular Searches surface existing demand. Pinned Searches create new demand. Both appear in the same suggestions panel and work best when used together.
No. Popular Searches only determines what appears in the suggestions panel before a shopper types. It does not influence how Tagalys ranks products in actual search results. Search result ranking is handled separately through the Trending sort logic, Merchandised Search, and Search Accuracy settings.
